One Year Later: Logitech G502 Review

Logitech G502 Proteus Core

Anyone can review a product but how much did they use that product they are reviewing and for how long before reviewing it? This is my "One Year Later Review". Were I review products after heavily using them for one year. This isn't and in-depth look, just more of a wear test.

The Logitech G502 is Logitech's newest series of mice. It is listed at a priced of $68.99 on Amazon.com.  It was just released in February 2014. I immediately got it and have been using it for one year of gaming at about 20-50 hours a week. Most of my hours put into the mouse have been on CSGO and Starbound, among other mouse trickery games like Surgeon Simulator.

Price:

The Logitech G502 comes in at an average price of most mice at its level for $68.99. On Black Friday you could get it from Best Buy with a $50 Steam Gift Card which would be definitely worth the purchase.

If the price is a little too much but you love the mouse you can always settle for the Logitech G402 Hyperion Fury at a price of $46. The G402 is missing some buttons, the option to remove/add weights, the ability change your mouse wheel from clicking to free-spin, and the multiple sensitivity profiles that you can change directly from your mouse.

Comfort:

I've used the mouse over long periods of constant playing time up to 5 hours in one sitting. I've seen some reviews on Amazon that people had said that the mouse is too small. I can't really agree with that. I almost do the claw grip but not quite the full claw. After my long play sessions I still feel comfortable. My hand doesn't experience any soreness.

Customization:

My only complaint about this mouse is the customization. I love the way you can set multiple profiles for varied sensitivities which easily allows you to switch between them. However, the lights on my mouse are always blue. I can't change the color! This drives me crazy. I would love to be able to change it to a color that I prefer (I do kinda like the blue though). The only option I have is to always have the lights on, always have them off, or have them on only when I am changing sensitivity settings. This doesn't in anyway affect my high recommendation to buy the product because in the end all that really matters is how well it performs over a long period of time. I still highly recommend you buying this mouse!

Durability:

Probably one of the most important parts of this review "how durable is it after one year?". This mouse is built very well. It has all the things you would expect in a normal gaming mouse, so no need to list them all.

After one year I still haven't needed to replace the pads under the mouse. You can see some slight wear though. Nothing to complain about. I also haven't been using a mouse pad just using it on my plain old desk which will greatly increase the wear speed. They do allow you to purchase new pads for the bottom of your mouse after extensive use.

I have done some traveling and have brought it along of course. I didn't have the space to bring it in the box. So I put it in the side pocket of my backpack with not much protection. It withstand whatever strain that could have put on it...thankfully.

Logitech has gone through some extensive testing to make sure their mice will last long and perform well over time. I did see them run over their new keyboard the Orion Spark with a car, not sure if they test the mice like that too but I wouldn't put it past them.

My mouse seems to still function great. All the buttons still click nice and crisp. The mouse has no problems and over all its still works like the day I got it. No problems in this category.

This review would be much more excited if I have had tons of problems to rage about. However I am glad to say I don't have any complaints about this mouse! Go buy the Logitech G502!!!
